Bahujan SamajParty (BSP) supremo and former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati said that the accident exposed the irresponsible attitude of the government towards migrants. The BSP supremo demanded action against officers who did not fulfil their responsibilities and sought financial assistance to families of those who were killed or injured in this accident. Mayawati also pointed out that on Friday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had stated that labourers who come to Uttar Pradesh or pass through the state will be taken care of. The chief minister had said that officers would make necessary arrangements for their food, transit and shelter. Mayawati added that it is unfortunate that the chief minister's directions are not being taken seriously by officers because of which a big accident occurred in Auraiya.
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra described the gruesome accident at Auraiya as heart-rending and wondered why the government was not making necessary arrangements for the migrant workers to reach home safely. Either the government does not know what is happening with migrants or is indifferent, she added.
