NFDB: A guardian of fish culture

From supplying fish seed and feeding for enhancing fish production to expanding fish culture, from fish tanks to village tanks and reservoirs for promoting community fisheries to marketing and transportation of fish, National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) has a major role in meeting indigenous fish requirements as well as exporting them to countries abroad. NFDB has multiple stakes in fishing and shrimp culture industry.

It supports fish farmers from the nascent stage of seed supply for fish rearing in tanks and reservoirs and also in supplying seeds to fish. It is also supplying cycles, motor cycles, vans and other means of transport at highly subsidised prices to farmers for speedy transportation of fish to markets for disposing them. NFDB also offers financial assistance for fish and prawn processing and monetary help for cold storages to entreprenuers and for exporting healthy and quality fish to countries abroad.

It also is constantly supporting diagnostic laboratories for tackling acquatic diseases and educating farmers. NFDB is virtually walking hand in hand with the farmers, fishermen and women, entreprenuers, logistic support providers and exporters for earning massive foreign exchange for the country. The story of NFDB is the story of aquaculture where multiple people have massive stakes.
