While you are feeling the pressure to squeeze into your old jeans, you also have a lot to think about your little one: when to feed, what would you do if she cries and the list goes on! So don’t be eager to look like your old self again, give your body some time as there is nothing like a magic pill to lose weight overnight.

Women post pregnancy should aim to lose 2 kgs/month only after post-natal check-up that happens after eight weeks of delivery. A cut from C-section takes a number of weeks to heal; therefore women who undergo caesarean delivery need a longer recovery period than those who have normal birth.

Follow these five effective ways of shedding post pregnancy weight to look like your old self again:
Breastfeed:
Breastfeeding should be considered to help shed excess pounds. In general, 12-13 kg is the approximate weight gain during pregnancy which is shed naturally on exclusive breast feeding and performing daily activity.

Drink up:
Post pregnancy the balance of water must be maintained in a mother’s body. Many women face the problem of constipation, post-delivery. To prevent it, drink at least 8-ounce glasses of fluids a day, and even more.

Don’t diet:
New mothers have to breastfeed the baby hence; any form of dieting should be avoided post pregnancy. Mothers need to choose a healthy platter since what she eats is the sole source of nutrition for the baby. A high protein galactogues rich diet should be taken post pregnancy to promote breast milk production.

Walk:
Walking at an easy pace for at least 30-45 minutes a day is recommended, as it helps prevent blood clots and other complications, and at the same time it helps to promote healing for those who have undergone C-section.
A two-and-half- hours of moderate-intensity aerobic activity — preferably spread throughout the week after pregnancy is recommended.

Stress Management:
After pregnancy women might feel emotional rollercoaster with sleep deprivation, lack of time and new responsibilities. But, it is better for mothers to give some time to recover and manage stress. It is really important for mothers to have appropriate sleep.
