Inner Wheel Club of Vijayawada and Top Gear in association with city police organised a scooter rally for women to elicit their driving skills at Siddhartha Academy here on Sunday.

Commissioner of Police D Gautam Sawang flagged off the rally. Speaking on the occasion, he emphasised the need for knowledge among women on driving and road safety. They should wear helmet and possess license and insurance. They should follow traffic rules.

He called upon women to own a two-wheeler of their own as it also helpful to others. He thanked the organisers for organising such programme to help traffic police.

Coordinators of Mahila Rakshak, Mahila Mitra and members of Inner Wheel Club were present. They sported placards on necessity of helmet to save life on road, problems with triple driving, drunk driving, high speed and negligence.

The organisers announced prizes such as washing machines, wet grinder, water heater and electronic rice cooker. Rashmi, president of the club, said that the event was planned to celebrate golden jubilee year of the club.

The programme was held in association with Mahila Mithra, Vijayawada City Police, Vasavya Mahila Mandali and Axis Bank. Vasavya Mahila Mandali president Chennupati Vidya, Joint Commissioner of Police Ramana Kumar, DCPs Kanti Rana Tata, Gajarao Bhupal and others were present.
