Anantapuramu: Telugu Desam Party leaders and Samaikyandhra agitators, led by Raptadu MLA Paritala Sunitha, blocked NH 44 on the outskirts of Raptadu of Anantapuramu district on Thursday. They had their lunch on the road. The MLA’s son, Paritala Sriram, also sat there till the evening. MLA Sunitha lamented that there is no security for Seemandhra people in Telangana areas even before the State’s bifurcation.
In Dharmavaram, police forcibly admitted TDP district general secretary Varadapuram Suri in the hospital at 2.30 pm on Thursday as his health condition was deteriorated drastically. Suri has been on indefinite hunger strike since five days demanding a united State. Minor altercation took place between police and TDP activists when Suri was being shifted to hospital.
The JAC organised Khadri Laksha Jana Garjana at Kadiri in which thousands of women, children, elders and others participated. Artistes performed cultural programmes. They sent the local political leaders away when they came there to participate in the Garjana saying that this is a public problem and they will solve it.
In Hindupur, drivers of autos and buses held a rally and students in the getup of Telugu Talli held a rally in the town.
Push cart traders took up a relay hunger strike at Tower Clock in Anantapuramu town on Thursday and distributed fruits free to the public to vent their protest against separate Telangana State. RTC employees formed a human chain at Saptagiri Circle and raised pro Samaikyandhra slogans. Later, they took up begging.
In support of YSRCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s hunger strike at Chanchalguda in Hyderabad, party leaders started indefinite hunger strike in the town. Party leaders and cadres took out a rally and closed the banks and government offices.
Ananthalakshmi Engineering College Chairman Anantharamudu, Principal B Ramesh Babu and teaching and non-teaching staff extended their support to the Power JAC agitators, who are on an indefinite hunger strike at their camp in the town.
In Puttaparti, Muslims hold relay hunger strike and YSRCP cadres took out a rally with the flexi of Sonia Gandhi and State Ministers and later burnt them.
