Vijayawada: The bust size bronze statue of late editor, Narla Venkateswara Rao, was unveiled here at Thummalapalli Kshetrayyavari Kalakshetram, on Saturday. The Andhra Jyothi managing director, V Radha Krishna, unveiled the statue.

The local MP Lagadapati Rajagopal, former MPs, Dr Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad and Dr Yalamanchili Sivaji, legislators, Malladi Vishnu and Vellampalli Srinivas, MLC Ilapuram Venkaiah, former MLA Adusumilli Jayaprakash, Andhra Pradesh Grandhalaya Samstha chairman, Dr Turlapati Kutumba Rao, Guntur former mayor and Narla's daughter, Dr Kolli Sarada, Samata Party former national president, V V Krishna Rao, were among those who were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the leaders recalled the values upheld by late Narla Venkateswara Rao as journalist all through his life. They asserted that Narla deserved better treatment for his contribution to journalism in the State.

Speaking on the occasion Dr Lakshmi Prasad said that he had selected Radha Krishna to unveil the statue of Narla as the latter had shouldered the responsibility of reopening Andhra Jyothi and providing employment for many of the journalists. He said that he had felt that there was no other right person to unveil the statue except Radha Krishna.
