Hyderabad : The State government had decided to release funds for Bangaru Talli through green channel. Green channel is a priority channel for release of funds for priority heads. Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, who reviewed the scheme on Friday, directed the officials of finance department that the incentives and funds for the Bangaru Talli scheme be released through green channel. He also said that incentives should be given to the mother of the girl child through banks only.

The government has also proposed to give first instalment of Rs 2,500, for the newly born girls after May 1, 2013, to the women beneficiaries straightaway and the bank accounts connected to Aadhar cards from second instalment should be mandatory. “We have to instil the confidence in the parents that the girl child is no longer a burden,” he said, adding that government gave a legal status to the scheme to give girls their right and for the cash incentives given by the government- Rs 2,500 soon after her birth and Rs 1 lakh after graduation at 21 years of age.


He suggested the officials to start the project on a pilot basis in a couple of mandals in tribal areas, including G K Veedhi mandal, in Vishakapatnam district. Chief Minister was informed that BTIDS (Bangaru Thalli Input Data Sheet) is already hosted to receive applications online. So far 51,929 beneficiaries (girl children) are registered online (SERP - 46,319 and MEPMA - 5,610).


However, out of these, mothers with no bank accounts are 23,360, mothers with invalid accounts are 5,130 and mothers with all documents uploaded are 215 and incentives transferred to VO accounts are around 144.
Officials told to monitor strike-hit Seemandhra


In the wake of intensified united Andhra agitation in Seemandhra region, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Friday instructed the officials concerned to closely monitor the situation and to take alternative steps for emergency services and transport arrangements in the strike hit region. Reddy reviewed the strike by the APNGOs and RTC employees and law and order situation in Seemandhra region with Chief Secretary PK Mohanty and other officials at Secretariat here. He asked the officials to take necessary steps wherever required and avoid inconvenience to common people.
