The Telangana Non-Gazetted Officers (TNGOs) were on Monday urged not to rest till the process of rebuilding of Telangana State was completed.

Speaking at the Ranga Reddy district meeting of TNGOs at Ravindra Bharati here, intellectuals from Telangana said that focus should be on speedy development of the new State.

Prof Haragopal emphasised on the importance of having a ‘dream’ in life. He said that civilisation cannot grow, if the society doesn’t have a dream. People of Telangana need to ask themselves what kind of Telangana they wished to hand over to the future generations.

He said that the officers in Secretariat need to ensure that there should be no red-tapism. During a research he did in 1982, comparing the work culture in the Secretariat between the years 1962 and 1982, it was found that the delay in clearing the files went up by three times.

He asked the IAS officers of Telangana to take inspiration from the former IAS officer Shankaran, who was an honest officer and had done amazing things which any government official couldn’t imagine.

The officials should decide whether they wanted to stay by the side of the people or not in the new State. “Moral authority in administration gives a spiritual satisfaction which is invaluable,” he said.

Reminding everybody that Telangana movement was aimed at protecting the natural resources of the region and a fight against domination and preserving identity of the people of the region, TJAC chairman Prof Kodandaram said, “the responsibility is on the employees to find out what resources Telangana has, and spread the knowledge among the people on how to effectively use them.”

He stressed the need to protect the small-scale industries. He said that it was now left to the people of Telangana to decide what kind of political leadership they wanted.

He also made it clear that Telangana without Bhadrachalam and Munagala was not acceptable to them and that the Central government should not try to put any conditions while carving out separate T state.
