Hyderabad: The unprecedented success of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the Delhi State elections stood as an inspiration for anti-corruption activists in AP to launch yet another movement against corruption at a time when the State has been submerged neck-deep in it.

Several anti-corruption activists assembled at Basheerbagh Press Club on Monday to celebrate the success of AAP and the International Anti-Corruption Day, which is celebrated around the world on December 9 every year. Addressing the gathering, Jayaprakash Narayan, Loksatta Chief, said that corruption was increasing in certain sectors. Though it had shown downward trend in some sectors, new avenues were being created where corruption could take place in administration.

He pointed out that thousands of files concerning people involved in corruption have been lying in the judiciary even after completion of the probe. He said the property of corrupt politicians and officials must be confiscated and they should be given stringent punishment. Senior Editor, K Srinivas Reddy felt that the party system in democracy was important and that if the people in the top resort to corruption, the judiciary needs to make an example out of it by punishing them without delaying the process of justice.
