Hyderabad: The statehood dream of Telangana people would be realised soon since Congress was fully committed to keep its word on the issue, AICC in-charge Digvijay Singh is understood to have told Prof Kodandaram led TJAC delegation that called him on Thursday evening.

He assured them of making every effort to introduce the bill in winter session of the parliament. In case required formalities were not completed in the stipulated time, a special session would be convened for this purpose, he is learnt to have told the JAC team.

Kodandaram and others also brought to the notice of Digvijay the need to make amendments on few clauses in the draft to protect the rights of Telangana people.
Praising the work of the TJAC in the separate State movement, Digvijay felt that it was appropriate that some of them should take up a politics as career to serve people. Congress is more than willing to give MLA tickets, he told them. Taken aback by this unexpected offer, the TJAC delegation is understood to have told Digvijay that it was not a relevant issue for them at present.
Later talking to reporters, JAC leaders said that this was just a meeting to extend thanks to UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Digvijay Singh for fulfilling aspirations of people of Telangana.
Earlier in the day, JAC delegation called on Deputy Chief Minister Damodara Rajanarasimha, Panchayat Raj Minister K Jana Reddy and CPI state secretary K Narayana. JAC leaders asked them to ensure that their legislators (from Telangana region) stand united and speak in one voice on Telangana issue in the Assembly.
