Police Foil Students’ Rally, OU Students Rally to Raj Bhavan. Police sealed all the gates of the campus to prevent students from coming out.

Hyderabad: Osmania University (OU), the epicenter of separate statehood agitation, simmered again on Monday when a cloak of security in the form of police, which has been thrown around the varsity, foiled the attempt by the students to take out a rally to Raj Bhavan.
Police sealed all the gates of the campus to prevent students from coming out.
Students called for siege to Raj Bhavan demanding immediate discussion on the draft T Bill and return it to the President of India, so that it could be introduced in Lok Sabha during the present winter session of the Parliament.
They also demanded that the absolute control over law and order in new State should be given to Telangana government. However, the security personnel, who were present in large numbers, stopped the students at the NCC gate. They raised slogans against the anti-Telangana forces and entered into a heated argument with the police officials. A few students were also taken into custody when they tried to break the security cordon. The agitated students resorted to stone pelting. The police tried to talk to the student leaders and see that normalcy was restored.
As they failed to bring situation under control, police lobbed tear gas shells on them. The students also set on afire a few tyres and tree trunks in the campus.
Meanwhile, the Panjagutta Police arrested a few students who tried to hold protest before Raj Bhavan. OU students’ union leader K Srinivas Goud was among those arrested.
