Tirupati: Continuing their aggressive drive, the Forest Department on Wednesday nabbed 85 more suspected smugglers from various places in and around Tirupati. They are suspected of being involved in the attack on the forest personnel in Seshachalam forest at Tirumala hills.
They were produced before the Vth additional junior civil judge court here in the evening
.
The magistrate Nagavenkatalakshmi remanded them to two weeks judicial custody.
However, reliable sources said that as many as 200 suspected smugglers have been detained by the police but only 85 could be produced on the completion of the inquiry. They are expected to produced the remaining on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Forest Department sources revealed that Chief Conservator Ravikumar and Divisional Forest Officer Srinvasulu have been summoned by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy. The two officers have already for Hyderabad.
