Hyderabad: Top leaders of TDP, TRS and YSRCP, and Union Minister D Purandeswari called on President Pranab Mukherjee on Thursday and submitted their views on bifurcation of the state.

Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu is said to have demanded that the Centre first allay the apprehensions of Seemandhra people before going ahead with the process of bifurcation of the State. He reportedly told the President that the Central government should meet all stake-holders from both the regions, listen to their concerns and find solutions to them before introducing the Bill in Parliament. Unless equal justice was done to all the regions, the State should not be bifurcated, he reportedly urged the President. A 30-member delegation led by K Chandrasekhar Rao submitted a 10 -page memorandum to Pranab Mukherjee, underlining the concerns of Telangana people. During the 20-minute meeting, Rao explained the ‘injustice’ that was being done to the region in all aspects since 1956. He also raised the shortcomings in the Draft Bill and expressed his party’s concerns over Governor’s rule in Hyderabad, distribution of government employees and pensioners. He took to the notice of the President the GOs 36 and 610 (issued by Chief Ministers from Seemandhra region) which mentioned that over one lakh government employees working in Telangana hailed from Seemandhra region.

If population instead of nativity was considered as the yardstick, the Telangana government would be burdened with payments worth thousands of crores every year, the TRS chief told the President. He also explained to the President the manner in which Seemandhra leaders were obstructing the proceedings in the Assembly ever since the T Bill was tabled. YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy submitted the affidavits by his party MLAs, opposing the bifurcation of the State, and said that the Centre had violated all constitutional provisions and Parliamentary practices in pursuance of bifurcation. Purandeswari explained to the President the inconsistencies in the Bill and told him how it would adversely affect the interests of the people of Seemandhra region.

Incidentally, former cricketer Mohammed Azharuddin also called on the President. He said it was just a courtesy call.
