Hyderabad: APNGOs along with political parties are gearing up to launch the second leg of agitation from January 2 with a public meeting to be held by the Advocates Joint Action Committee (JAC) in Visakhapatnam. It will be followed by Seemandhra bandh on January 3.

This decision was taken at the all-party meeting of the APNGOs held here on Saturday. The meeting was attended by Minister S Sailajanath, TDP leaders Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy and Y Rajendera Prasad and J Jagdish Yadav of Samajwadi Party.

Briefing the media after the meeting, APNGOs president P Ashok Babu said that they decided to intensify agitation so that their demand to keep the State united would be heard by the Centre.

“On January 2, an oath would be administered to MLAs irrespective of party affiliations and the participants in all the Assembly constituencies. On January 3, all the parties which are fighting to keep the state united will observe Seemandhra bandh. This will be followed by forming human chains in all the districts on January 4. Simultaneously, relay hunger strikes will be taken up by different sections of the society,” he explained. Teachers, students, government employees, farmers and women would take part in the relay hunger strikes.

On January 10, a resolution demanding that the process of bifurcation be stopped would be passed at village-level meetings, and it will be submitted to the President, along with affidavits by the leaders and members of all the parties on January 23, when the deadline for discussing the Telangana Draft Bill would come to an end, Ashok Babu said. He further said it was also decided that all political parties would keep their party flags and symbols aside and participate in the programmes to be organised by the APNGOs.
