In order to provide world-class facilities and best treatment to foreign patients, an ‘International Patient Wing’ was opened at Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital and Research Institute (BIACH&RI) in Hyderabad on Saturday.

Inaugurating the special wing, TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu expressed his happiness over the new unit, and said that the hospital should continue to realise the ideals of former Chief Minister Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao (NTR) who started the hospital. It should also strive to provide quality and affordable medical services to all. He called upon doctors and other staff of the hospital to keep up their hard work and put the hospital among top medical service providers across national and international levels. Naidu exuded confidence that under the chairmanship of Nandamuri Balakrishna, the hospital would reach greater heights in the field of varied medical specialties, patient services and cancer care. He also recalled the contributions of many donors in developing the hospital.

“With cancer cases increasing day-by-day globally, a lot of effort is needed to restrict cancer cases. For achieving this, the staff of the hospital should work with greater commitment. Even today, I still remember how my mother-in-law suffered from acute cancer illness,’’ he said. Stressing the need for wide-scale campaigns for creating awareness about the killer disease, Naidu urged people to take preventive steps by changing their lifestyle and staying away from tobacco and liquor - the main reasons for causing cancer. “Today by taking a step forward, BIACH has launched a special International Patient Wing equipped with advanced technology and world class services for foreign patients.

Our mission is to continue the legacy of my father NTR and provide best medical services at affordable prices to all sections of the people,” stated Balakrishna, the chairman of BIACH. The hospital, besides having prestigious accreditations of NABH, NABL etc, is also enlisted among the best cancer institutions in India, he added. BIACH Board of Trustees Dr Kodela Siva Prasada Rao, Dr MVVS Murthi and Dr Tulasi Polavarapu and the CEO of BIACH, RP Singh, also spoke on the occasion. Karumanchi Swarajyam, Devineni Lakshmi and some others gave Rs 1 lakh donation each for the development of BIACH on the occasion.
