Hyderabad: Minister for Civil Supplies D Sridhar Babu said on Monday that the government had imposed a penalty of Rs 1.17 crore on the suppliers of Ammahastam for distributing substandard commodities to the beneficiaries. Addressing the media persons, Sridhar Babu said that Tata Consultancy Services had been entrusted with the task of scrutinising the quality of the goods being supplied under Ammahastam.

He said that the government was ready to supply Ammahastam goods to all the white ration card holders and the eligible families would be issued fresh ration cards after obtaining reports from the field level officers.
