New Delhi: Noted Telugu litterateur Volga was on Saturday conferred this year’s Literary Award by the Lok Nayak Foundation. The day marks the anniversary of Harivansh Rai Bachchan and the late former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N T Rama Rao, for whom, Lok Nayak Foundation Chairman Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad has profound admiration and was keen to commemorate their memory. The award carries a chque of Rs 1.25 lakh.

The function was graced by Supreme Court Judge Jasti Chalameshwar, Delhi High Court Chief Justice N V Ramana, CESTAT chairman Justice G Raghuram, former MP M V V S Murthy, BJP leader K Haribabu and Daspalla Managing Director Raghavender Rao, who contributed the prize money.

The Lok Nayak Award has a special place in this regard, he said. Justice Ramana said the naxals had launched a movement in Srikakulam and impacted Guntur and even influenced Volga’s thinking.
