Hyderabad: As the rift between the Congress and the Telangana Rashtra Samiti is widening, the former has reportedly decided to work out strategies to go it alone in both Telangana and Seemandhra regions.

The party wants to go in an aggressive manner in Telangana region claiming full credit for carving out the separate T State. At the same time, it will try convince the people of Seemandhra that it had tried to ensure equal justice to the maximum possible extent.

In Telangana, the party proposes to hold Telangana Vijyotsava Yatras which are likely to be addressed by All India Youth Congress leaders.

As part of this exercise, PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana met former ministers Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, N Raghuveera Reddy and others and discussed the strategies they need to adopt to implement the decision of the high command. According to Botcha, they have decided to hold a meeting with district presidents from Seemandhra and PCC office-bearers on March 5.

This would be followed by a meeting with MLAs, MLCs and other leaders from the region on March 6. Botcha said this meeting will decide the steps they need to take on reviving the fortunes of the party in the elections.

The Congress party wants to tell the people that despite best of their efforts to keep the state united, the high command had gone ahead due to certain unavoidable circumstances. But at the same time, it had ensured that the region was not left in lurch. The packages it had announced would help the residual state to get huge funds for speedy development. The sops the party had announced will help Andhra Pradesh in attracting investments and within a very short period it can emerge as a progressive state.

They will also explain how the Union Cabinet had decided to shift a national institute from Hyderabad to Vijayawada. Apart from holding meetings across the Seemandhra region, the Congress also proposes to put up hoardings explaining the benefits given to the residual state. It also plans to take up a publicity blitzkrieg on how the Congress has not ignored the interests of Seemandhra people as was being claimed by the opposition parties.

Botcha said that they are also expecting greater clarity in next two days on whether the high command will divide the PCC into two before the elections or will constitute regional committees during the interregnum period.

Meanwhile, he appointed four new DCC presidents M Venkateswara Rao (West Godavari), Dhananjay Reddy (Nellore), Venugopal Reddy (Chittoor) and Y Sivarami Reddy (Anantapuram).
