Hyderabad: Former MLA Jalagam Venkat Rao and Manthani heavyweight Putta Madhu joined Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in the presence of TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao here on Monday. It was a simple function, unlike the usual throng of thousands of supporters who flock to Telangana Bhavan to support their leaders.

Later, speaking to reporters, Venkat Rao, who had been associated with the Congress and the YSRC parties earlier, stated that he would strive hard to strengthen the base of TRS in Khammam district. He assured that change would be visible in the upcoming elections.

On the other hand, Putta Madhu, who lost by a small majority to former minister D Sridhar Babu in Manthani constituency in 2009 election, said that he joined TRS to take part in rebuilding of the new State. He said that he received several offers to join various parties after quitting YSR Congress six months back. Upon insistence of followers and well-wishers, he joined the TRS, he said.
