Hyderabad: Governor E S L Narsimhan on Monday was all praise for N Chandrababu Naidu who is set to become the first Chief Minister of the residuary State of Andhra Pradesh. The Governor told the TDP MLAs and MPs who accompanied Naidu that their leader was a very hard worker and if they also emulated him and worked hard they too would succeed in getting a good name among the people.
Naidu called on the Governor at Rajbhavan on Monday evening. He was accompanied by some of the newly elected MLAs and MPs from Seemandhra and Telangana region. The TDP chief, who spent over an hour at the Raj Bhavan, also had a ten-minute one-on-one interaction with Narasimhan where they were said to have discussed the government formation issue in detail.
Asked when and where the swearing-in ceremony would be, Naidu told the reporters it would be decided in two to three days.
It is learnt that Narasimhan took Naidu on a trip down the memory lane. He recalled that he was an IPS officer serving in the Intelligence Bureau between 1995 and 2004 when Naidu was the Chief Minister. The Governor said to him, “You used to visit New Delhi regularly. K Yerran Naidu, then leader of Telugu Desam Parliamentary Party, represented to me that your security has been scaled down. I saw to it that your security was enhanced.
Naidu then recalled the services of Yerran Naidu, who was killed in a road accident in 2012. “It's unfortunate that he is no more," the Governor said.
The Governor is also said to have enquired with Naidu when he would take oath as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Naidu replied that it would be only after the "Appointed Day" (June 2) when the bifurcation of AP would be formally completed and the two States (Telangana and the residuary Andhra Pradesh) come into being.
