Vijayawada: A few hours before the EAMCET 2014 examination, five aspirants for medicine stream from Sri Chaitanya Sarada Sree campus in Penamaluru had to be admitted in a private hospital after they were allegedly man-handled by the campus in-charge on Wednesday night.

The injured youth, however, managed to appear for the Eamcet in medicine stream. While four took the test on their own, the other was provided with assistance, on the recommendation by the doctor who treated them.

The students were allegedly beaten up by principal Cherukuri Raghuram and vice-principal Koneru Rama Krishna with iron rods for leaving even before the study hours ended. Penamaluru CI J Murali Krishna said that a case had been registered against the duo and both were taken into custody for further investigation.

S K Munawar Hussain, whose right hand is injured in the alleged attack, was admitted by the management in hospital, while the rest of three students whose wrists and fingers were injured were admitted by their friends. M Satish Kumar, S K Saifullah Khan and P L Raghava are the other students. All of them hail from various parts of Kadapa district and have been pursuing BiPC at the college. Another student, S K Dadavali was discharged after treatment.

Speaking about their condition, pulmonologist Dr K Anil said, “the condition of the students is stable. They were brought by the administration and other friends to the hospital about 10 pm. The students accused the principal and the vice-principal of attacking them.

A student broke his right hand and the others suffered minor injuries. We wrote a letter to the authorities, asking them to provide assistance to the student who broke his hand, to attend the EAMCET.”

When contacted, Munawar Hussain said that the principal and the vice-principal had come to the hostel room where he along with a few other friends was relaxing. There was an argument which led to the attack on the students. Munawar said that the principal took an iron rod and hit him. He tried to defend himself, breaking his elbow in the incident.

Though the other three students too suffered injuries in the same incident, they said that they heard windows breaking from the upper floor of the apartment and rushed out to the balcony. They got hurt as the broken pieces pierced into their wrists, they claimed.
