Maiden Session of Telangana Assembly Begins. The maiden session of Telangana State Assembly and Council began here on Monday. The Protem Speaker K Jana Reddy administered the oath to 116 out of 119 members.

Hyderabad: The maiden session of Telangana State Assembly and Council began here on Monday. The Protem Speaker K Jana Reddy administered the oath to 116 out of 119 members.

Earlier in the day, senior-most member of the Assembly Jana Reddy was sworn-in as the Protem Speaker by Governor ESL Narasimhan at a simple function in Raj Bhavan.

In the 119-member Assembly, ruling TRS has 63 members, Congress 21, TDP-BJP combine 20, MIM 7, YSRCP 3, BSP 2 and others, including two independents.

The Protem speaker administered oath to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, followed by his Cabinet colleagues and other members.

The session commenced at 11 am with the Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao being welcomed by the Legislative Affairs Minister T Harish Rao and the Legislative Secretary to Assembly Raja Sadaram.

KCR was the first to take oath and soon after he went to the other party floor leaders -- J Geeta Reddy, Errabelli Dayakar Rao and K Laxman -- and greeted them.

Later, other Ministers including -- T Rajaiah, Etela Rajender, Jagadeeshwar Reddy, K Tarakarama Rao, Mahender Reddy, P Srinivas Reddy, T Padma Rao and Harish Rao -- also took oath.

Legislative Council vice-chairman Nethi Vidyasagar was also sworn-in as the Chair-man by the Governor earlier in the day.

Election of the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker will be held on 10. The Governor will address the joint session of the two Houses on June 11. Legislative Affairs Minister T Harish Rao appealed to all the parties to ensure unanimous election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker.

The House would take up motion of thanks to Governor's Address on June 12 and 13 after which the session would conclude.
