AP police inside, T police outside

Hyderabad: As the first session of the AP Assembly is going to take place at the old Assembly building from today, Governor ESL Narsimahan reviewed the security arrangements with Director General of Police (in charge) J V Ramudu, Legislature Secretary K Satyanarayana Rao and other top police officials. About 1,200 police personnel were being posted for security duty at the Assembly, DGP Ramudu said.

The security inside the Assembly is being taken care of by AP police and outside the Assembly by Telangana police. “We can’t shun our responsibility,” says DGP Telangana Anurag Sharma as the meeting was happening in Telangana. And going by the animosity that Naidu and KCR are displaying to each other, the traffic cops and other junior officers who are deployed for security admit that they too are in for a harrowing time. "For now, the metro work is stalled at some places but as the metro works peak, more and more roads have to be barricaded. If it starts raining we will have a bigger trouble. And in the midst of this, we will have to ensure traffic management for the ministers of both governments and the likes of Naidu and KCR," says a senior officer.

While the police are sure to have a tough time, the commuters too will have harrowing time if the rain god blesses Hyderabad during the session. And if one were to ask a common man, city’s traffic will go for a toss with security personnel blocking the roads for people. And as always the question which our politicians have to answer is, do they need this blanket of security at the cost of the common man?
