The recent statistics till 2012 revealed by National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) brings out the fact that erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh grabbed third position in the country for the overall number of suicides recorded, and second for the number of specific family suicides.
Hyderabad: The recent statistics till 2012 revealed by National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) brings out the fact that erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh grabbed third position in the country for the overall number of suicides recorded, and second for the number of specific family suicides.
Astoundingly, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam recorded more number of suicides than Hyderabad, the city with much greater population than the mentioned two cities. A share of 10.8% was held by Andhra Pradesh of the total share of suicides in the country, figuring 14,607 suicides in total.
It is learnt that more or less most cases of suicides related to family problems like dowry, unemployment and harassment, weak-mindedness and lack of emotional or financial support. Even in families, mostly housewives commit suicide. According to statistics, most suicides occur due to family problems, followed by illness and are prominent amongst people who are married. Also, most suicides were by those employed in the private sector.
