Jangareddigudem: Telugu Desam supremo and Chief Minister Chandrababu said here on Thursday that he would strive for the welfare of the poor till the last drop of his blood. Addressing the farmers as part of the district tour on the second day, the chief minister said that he was committed for agriculture loan-waiving and he would fulfill all the promises he made during the elections.

Flaying the erstwhile Congress government, he said that the Congress had given top priority for lobbyists. He said that he had given clear instructions to remove all the belt shops in the State. Referring to the Polavaram project, he asked the people not to believe the canards spread by the vested interests. He said that the displaced persons would be rehabilitated.

Eluru MP Maganti Babu and other TDP leaders participated. Earlier, the chief minister conducted a review meeting with ministers Peethala Sujatha and Manikyala Rao and ZP chairman Bapiraju and several MLAs belonging to the district. He also conducted a review meeting with the district-level officers later. The officials reportedly informed the chief minister the necessity of establishing agro-based industries and to develop the district as tourist centre.

The chief minister went on a road-show at Koyyalagudem mandal passing through Narsannapalem, Sithampet, Bayyannagudem, Koyyalagudem, Gavaravaram and Ponguturu villages. He visited tobacco auction centre and observed the e-auction system. Addressing the farmers, he said that it was high time the agriculture should be made profitable. They should employ modern systems in farming, he said and added that the farmers would be given remunerative price for their produce.

Tobacco Board chairman Gopal, Minister Sujatha and several MLAs accompanied him.

Addressing people at Narsannapalem, the chief minister said that the State was facing major hurdles and we had to come out of debts. He said that he would set up a home for the aged in every assembly constituency and plans would be prepared for the development of rural areas.

Referring to the large number of Girijans present in the district, he said that their rights would be protected. While the pension for the aged was Rs 1,000 the pension for the physically challenged would be Rs 1,500, he said.
