Kidnapped boy Gautam KodelaVisakhapatnam: Four-year-old Gautam Kodela, grandson of Assembly Speaker Dr Kodela Sivaprasad Rao, was kidnapped from his mother’s house here on Wednesday night, according to a complaint lodged with the Three Town police here on Thursday.

According to the boy’s mother, Padma Priya Kodela, she was residing with her parents along with her son Gautam due to dispute with her husband Sivarama Krishna Kodela, son of the Speaker. Padma Priya said that along with her husband, a ten-member rowdy gang barged into their house between 8.30 pm and 9 pm on Wednesday. When she opened the door, she saw her husband along with rowdies. When they demanded that she hand over the boy, she rushed inside and took the boy to another room and locked from inside. However, they broke open the door and took the boy away. They also assaulted Padma Priya’s mother Varalakshmi who tried to rescue the boy. Her father Krishna Rao was not present at the time of kidnap.

On receipt of information, 108 emergency vehicle and police rushed to the spot but could not trace the boy.

DCP (Law and Order, Zone-II) M Srinivasulu said they had registered a case against Kodela Sivaramakrishna under Section 363, 498 (A) and few other sections of IPC and investigation is on. Padma Priya alleged that the kidnap was done using political power.

“I want my son back failing which death is the last resort for us. Speaker Kodela Sivaprasad will be solely responsible. I came to know that the boy is kept at my sister-in-law’s house in Guntur and we are worried about his safety and security,” Padma Priya lamented. She said that she had not taken divorce from her husband while a dispute was going on. Padma Priya’s father Krishna Rao said that he received a call from the gang, asking him to come home.

However, he told them that this was not the right time to talk. “It is unfortunate they kidnapped the boy, attacking both my daughter and wife. My daughter’s sister-in-law who is in Guntur is instrumental in all the family disputes and my son-in-law and his sister also physically and mentally harassed Padma Priya,” he alleged. The family dispute was not settled even after ten sittings and harassing a woman and her son using political power was undemocratic and unethical, he said.
