Says workers are the backbone of the party

Hyderabad: Obliquely referring to the poaching of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders by ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in Telangana, TDP President and AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday said no force would stop the TDP from becoming a strong political organisation.

Launching the party membership drive for both Telangana State and AP at the party head office at NTR Trust Bhavan here, he said the TDP was the only political organisation which had a strong cadre base in both the States. The party would survive forever even if some leaders switched loyalties to other parties. “For TDP, party workers are the backbone of the party. The party also has the distinction of being the first political party in the country which had groomed leaders from among the workers since its inception,” he said. Reiterating that though AP was divided geographically, Telugu people living in both the States were considered as ‘same family’, Naidu said the two States should maintain cordial relations and develop equally.

Calling upon Telangana TDP leaders to fight for people’s issues without any compromise, the party chief said he also brought to the notice of the Union government the problems being faced by Telangana State and urged it to help both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Naidu's son and Party Workers’ Welfare Fund coordinator Lokesh, who was also present, explained the leaders about the new technology adopted in the enrolment of new party members online. The TDP chief was the first to enrol his name in the camp. Party senior leaders including Naidu's brother -in- law Harikrishna was also present.
