Hyderabad/Warangal/Visakhapatnam: A desperate bid is being made by Maoists to revive their activities in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, say the police. Both the governments, it is learnt, have instructed the police not to take any chance and ensure that there was no revival of Maoists. A top source informed The Hans India that the Naxals continue to have a base all along the Godavari region but they have lost the support of local people and tribals in the agency areas.

  • PLGA Week being observed by them
  • Cops suspect they may strike during the period
  • Maoists have base in the Godavari region

While some presence of the Maoists cannot be ruled out in Khammam areas due its close proximity to Chhattisgarh, they have no foothold whatsoever in Adilabad district and other areas in the north Telangana, the source said. Most of the letters and posters that have appeared in the last few days are fake and some elements were trying to create scare taking advantage of the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army week that commenced on Tuesday.

The Maoists in the past used to get support from local people but now that was not forthcoming, the source said. Not willing to take any chance, the police are put on high alert in agency areas and Naxal-affected villages of Khammam-Karimnagar-Warangal.
