Nellore: Keeping silence over corruption is a crime, said ACB CI Venkateswarlu. As part of ACB Awareness Week, students from different colleges took out a massive rally and took a pledge against graft in Nellore on Wednesday.


Addressing the meeting held at the Zilla Parishad Hall, he exhorted the people to fight against corruption. The people should lodge a complaint with the ACB if any government officer demanded bribe to do work, he said. Similarly, they should pass on the information to the department if the government officials indulged in corruption.

He assured that names of the people, who lodge the complaints with the ACB, would be kept confidential. Zero per cent corruption and 100 per cent development was the mantra of ACB this year, he said. “People alone can bring social change. If they provide information about corrupt officials, the ACB will take immediate action,” he said.

Nellore ASP Reddy Gangadhar Rao said that the people’s cooperation was necessary for the ACB to curb graft. The Prevention of Corruption Act ensured the safety and security of a witness, he added.
