21 get life in murder case
The Adoni Sessions Court on Wednesday sentenced 21 persons to life in the Kappatralla murder case in Kurnool district. Prosecution case was that on May 17, 2008, 11 persons, including TDP leader Kappatralla Venkatappa Naidu, were hacked to death after their convoy was waylaid and attacked. As many as 47 people figured as accused in the case.
Kurnool: The Adoni Sessions Court on Wednesday sentenced 21 persons to life in the Kappatralla murder case in Kurnool district. Prosecution case was that on May 17, 2008, 11 persons, including TDP leader Kappatralla Venkatappa Naidu, were hacked to death after their convoy was waylaid and attacked. As many as 47 people figured as accused in the case.
The judgment came after the trial went on for six years in the Additional Sessions court. M Maddileti Naidu was the prime accused along with Varam Padma, Diwarkar Naidu, Purushotham Naidu and others. Three of the accused in the case died during the trial. One of the accused figured in the case is still at large.
The court acquitted 25 of the accused as the prosecution failed to prove the charge against them. Prosecution charged the accused with waylaying the convoy in which Venkatapa Naidu along with his 17 associates was travelling from Kppatralla to Kurnool. The accused, the prosecution said, made a lorry collide head-on with Venkatappa Naidu’s vehicle. They threw bombs on the convoy and attacked them.
