Taking a dip during the Godavari Pushkaralu has brought luck to lakhs of devotees. Many believe that taking a holy dip in the river will bring them good fortune and give them salvation. But it has not been the same for Chief Ministers. Several chief ministers of Andhra Pradesh who took a holy dip in their capacity as CMs of AP, could not retain their posts in the next elections.

Bezawada Gopal Reddy bathed in the river in 1995 and his career ended then. His successors also faced the same ill. Even for Chandrababu Naidu, it has become a curse. He lost the post after taking part in the pushkarams in 2003.

Speaking to an English daily, popular astrologer C.V.V. Subramanyam said that the CMs lost their posts due to their 'Graha Yogam' and there was no curse like that. He said that taking a holy dip will only bring good luck to everyone.
