Visakhapatnam: Heavy rain lashed the city and surrounding areas for the second day on Wednesday. Normal life was thrown out of gear and students and employees had tough time in reaching their destinations. The Cyclone Warning Centre said the city had received over 6 cm of rain till evening.


It said the low pressure area over the north Coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining Odisha still persisted and as a result more rains were forecast. There was water logging at MVP Colony, Poorna Market, Dondaparthy, Gnanapuram, Convent Junction, Ganeshnagar and Bhupeshnagar apart from the low lying areas of old town area.


During the last 24 hours ending 8.30 am of Wednesday, Pusapatirega (Vizianagaram) received 11 cm of rain followed by Cheepurupalle (Vizianagaram) 10 cm, Denkada (Vizianagaram) 9 cm, Peddapuram (East Godavari) 9 cm, Garividi (Vizianagaram) 7 cm, Anakapalle (Vishakhapatnam) 7 cm, Paderu (Vishakhapatnam) 7 cm, Chodavaram 6 cm, Ongole (Prakasam) 6 cm, Tekkali ( Srikakulam) 5 cm and Chimakurthi (Prakasam) 5cm.
