Addressing a press conference here on Sunday after winding up his two-day tour, the Chief Minister said that the city should get ready by December-end for the global investors meeting to be held in January next year to be hosted by the central government in which delegates from 70 countries would participate and the prestigious International Fleet Review in which 80 maritime countries would take part.

Prior to these two events, a high-level Korean delegation is also visiting the city to explore investment possibilities, he added. “I told the local officials to keep the city clean and maintain good sanitation as these two events would showcase Visakhapatnam in the global forum,” he said.

The Chief Minister said that he had visited Central Park, One Town, Tagarapuvalasa, VIMS Hospital, Visakhapatnam Port, HPCL and Essar pellets factory, earlier in the day. He said that he had made suggestions to beautify the city, footpaths, parks and the roads on a war footing.

“I found litter in the drains, pollution in the port area, damaged roads in some parts, defects in BRTS Road and told the officials to complete the works in a planned manner,” he said. Regarding control over pollution, the Chief Minister said the regional office of the AP Pollution Control Board would be strengthened with added technical infrastructure.

He said the convention center at the beach road would be completed by December-end so that the global investors meet and IFR convention could be held there overlooking the Bay of Bengal.

On King George Hospital and Visakha Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS), he said the government was toying with the idea of forming a society headed by an administrator to supervise the day-to-day functioning. Both the institutions need to be converted into project mode for early completion, he added.

Vizag Zoo Park not to be shifted On the loud rumours of shifting of Indira Gandhi Zoological Park from its present site to Adavivaram, the Chief Minister categorically said that the government was not thinking of shifting the zoo. “We want to develop it further to attract national and international tourists. Even Kamblakonda eco-park would be developed,” he added.
