Hyderabad: Justice A Ramalingeswara Rao of the High Court at Hyderabad on Tuesday set aside the action of the NTR Health University in conducting practical examination for PG General medicine in the absence of the prescribed number of external examiners

The judge declared the impugned action as being contrary to the Regulation 14 of Medical Council of India. Justice Rao was dealing with writ pleas filed by Dr. Kranthi Kumar and Dr. Kanigalpula SP Manjeera challenging the practical examination conducted by the varsity on May 13,

2015 and declaring the results on June 23 without participation of minimum number of external examiners as arbitrary and illegal KV Simhadri, counsel for the petitioners told the court as per the MCI Regulations for all post-graduate examinations, the minimum number of examiners shall be four, out of which at least two shall be external examiners,

who shall be invited from other universities from outside of the state. He said under exceptional circumstances, examinations may be held with three examiners provided two of them are external and MCI has to intimate the justification of such action in prior to publication of result and in this case the varsity has failed to follow the procedure.

He said the absence of one evaluator has caused huge loss to his clients. Disposing of the petitions, the judge directed the NTR Varsity to hold practical examination afresh for both the petitioners from the three weeks now .
