Divine touch to soil, water. Soil and water collected by the officials and staff of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) from various sacred places in Tirumala and Tirupati for the foundation of the new capital city of Andhra Pradesh, Amaravati, was handed over to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at Tirumala on Sunday.

Tirupati: Soil and water collected by the officials and staff of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) from various sacred places in Tirumala and Tirupati for the foundation of the new capital city of Andhra Pradesh, Amaravati, was handed over to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at Tirumala on Sunday.

  • Naidu elated over tremendous response from people to ‘Mana Matti – Mana Neeru – Mana Amaravati’ programme

Responding to the Chief Minister's call to contribute soil and water as part of 'Mana Matti-Mana Neeru-Mana Amaravati', the TTD had collected sand and water from various locations including Papavinasam, Gogarbham, Akasa Ganga, Kapila Teertham, Chakra Teertham, Srivari Pushkarini, Bangaru Bavi, Gali Gopuram, Srivari Mettu and other places. They were stored at the Srivari temple.

The Chief Minister along with TTD Chairman Dr Chadalawada Krishnamurthy, EO Dr D Sambasiva Rao, trust board members and other officials carried the soil and water up to the Kalyana Radham near the Vaibhavotsava Mandapam. The sacred soil and water handed over by the TTD to the Chief Minister would be shifted to Vijayawada in the TTDs’ Kalyana Radham.

Speaking to media persons on the occasion, Chandrababu Naidu said he sought the divine intervention in building a world class capital city for Andhra Pradesh. “There has been tremendous response to the State government's Mana Matti-Mana Neeru-Mana Amaravati and people from across the State are proactively extending their support to the efforts of the government to build a world class capital city.

The State government would leave no stone unturned in building a world class capital in line with the sentiments of the people', said the Chief Minister. He lauded the efforts of the TTD in collecting soil and water from sacred places in Tirumala and Tirupati for the Amaravati foundation.

5 Union Ministers to attend fete

Five Union Ministers will attend the foundation laying ceremony of new terminal in Vijayawada airport at Gannavaram on Monday. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is scheduled to lay foundation for the new terminal building, which was designed to reflect the local culture and tradition.

Union Minister for Civil Aviation P Ashok Gajapati Raju will preside over the programme. Union Minister for urban development M Venkaiah Naidu, Union Minister of state for Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma, Union Minister of commerce and industry Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister of state for Science and technology YS Chowdary will attend the programme as guests.

It may be noted that the new terminal building to be constructed with an outlay of Rs 150 crore aimed to accommodate more than 500 passengers. The existing extended terminal building has a capacity to accommodate less than 500 passengers.
