Lingapalem: Minister for Women and Child Welfare P Sujatha on Sunday visited Lingapalem and Dharmajigudem villages in the district and inaugurated two paddy procurement centres. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the State government will come to the aid of paddy farmers in East and West Godavari districts and procure discoloured paddy.
She said the unseasonal rains have taken a heavy toll on the paddy crop and paddy farmers in Godavari districts have been demanding that the government bail them out of the precarious situation.
She said the damaged crop would be bought by paying MSP to farmers. The Minister said the government will provide input subsidy to the farmers who suffered crop loss. The Minister instructed the officials to make the payment to the farmers immediately after procuring the paddy. There should not be any delay in the payment, she stressed.
Later, she inaugurated generic medical shops at Lingapalem village and said that people can get drugs at cheap prices from these stores. Eluru RDO Namboori Tej Bharath, Lingapalem tahsildar Somasekhar, Village sarpanches Kesina Srihari and Varaprasad and Mandal president Mallikharjun were present.
