Swimming, yoga competitions begin

Joint Collector D V Reddy launched the swimming competitions for children in three categories-below eight years, below 10 and below 12 years in free-style, back stroke, breast stroke and butterfly. The competitions were being organised jointly by the Visakhapatnam District Swimming Association and the District Sports Authority.
Speaking on the occasion, Reddy asked the participants to showcase their talent to help keep Visakha district on the top position in the State. He urged them to make the swimming competition a special attraction of the Utsav. He informed that allocation of stalls with dimensions of 20x12 ft and 10x12 ft will be done for the Visakha Utsav to be held from January 1 to 3 on the R K Beach road. He said those who want 20 ft stall shall have to pay Rs 20,000 in the form of DD taken in the name of District Collector, Visakhapatnam while those opt for 10 ft stalls Rs 10,000. The drafts must be handed over at the Joint Collector Office Chambers, he added.
MP K Hari Babu who launched yoga competitions at the Nature Cure Hospital on the Beach road claimed that the entire credit of India getting international recognition in yoga will go to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and thus June 21 was declared as International Yoga Day.
He felt that regular yoga gives good health to all age groups. He thanked the Utsav organisers for including yoga competitions. District Sports Officer N Surya Rao, Dr Lakshminarayana, Dr Sri Lakshmi and R Ravi Kumar of Nature Cure Hospital were present.
