The forest department has initiated an innovate idea of using beehive fencing to shoo away wild elephants, which have been creating a havoc in interiors village of Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts. After all efforts failed in the past, the forest department will now use the bees to keep off the tuskers.

A wildlife expert from Banguluru Dr K Rudraiah has been roped in by the forest department to prepare a beehive fence.

He will be arriving on Tuesday and visit the affected villages to learn the topography of the area. Forest officials said four female elephants have been destroying crops in the tribal pockets of Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts and damaging the houses and standing crops.
