Kurnool: District Superintendent of Police A K Ravikrishna said here on Thursday that strong action would be taken against those responsible if dowry harassment was involved in the suicide.

It may be recalled here that Boya Sirisha (19) attempted suicide by consuming pesticide on December 23 at Osur village in Pathikonda mandal. She died at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the government hospital here. The SP examined the body in the mortuary and talked with the victim’s parents.
He said Sirisha had ended her life because of dowry harassment by her husband Boyi Omkar (34), sisters in-law and brother-in-law. Omkar, a Telugu lecturer in Alur Government Junior College, has been absconding. The couple got married 10 months ago. The SP stressed that resorting to suicide was not a solution to the problem and people should not end their lives. Instead, they should contact dial 100.
In a press release, Ravikrishna called upon the people to solve their problems by approaching the nearest police station/women’s police station/police Praja Darbar (for consulting the SP). Dhone DSP Baba Fakruddin, MRO T Venkatramesh Babu, Pathikonda SI T Srinivasulu accompanied the SP during the visit.
