Visakhapatnam: Pradesh Congress Committee president N Raghuveera Reddy announced that the Congress party will launch Prajahita Yatra on January 25 to understand the people’s problems at the grassroots level, availability of basic infrastructure facilities and visit individual homes to understand their problems first hand. The yatra will conclude on February 10, he added.

Addressing the training camp of Congress workers here on Tuesday, the PCC president said a group of 10 party workers would be selected from each ward and under the leadership of the ward president of the party they would tour the ward and visit individual homes. The workers will also distribute pamphlets to create awareness among the people, Raghuveera Reddy said.

The Assembly constituency in-charge of the party would supervise the yatra on a daily basis, he said.

The PCC president elicited the opinion of the party workers on the programme and told that the yatra would give recognition to them in their area as they would be directly talking to the people.

“People are unhappy with the functioning of the ruling Telugu Desam Party, hence Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is dragging his feet to conduct municipal and corporation elections fearing defeat”, he said. The YSRCP also failed to perform as the main Opposition party, he lamented.

Hinting that the yatra was launch of party’s campaign for the corporation elections, Raghuveera Redy said that the programme should be in a constructive method to reach the people by addressing their problems. City Congress Committee president Behera Bhaskara Rao presided over the meeting. Former minister Vatti Vasantha Kumar, former MLA Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao, senior leaders Bolisetti Sat anarayana and others were present at the inaugural programme of the training.
