Jagan woos Dasari to win over Kapus

Jagan on Tuesday met former Union minister and popular film director Dasari Narayana Rao and is learnt to have invited him to join the party. Dasari, who had close relations with Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, is said to have given his consent to join the party. Sources said that Dasari will be given some important post, according to party insiders.
The one-on-one meeting between Jagan and Dasari assumes significance in the wake of the appeasement of the dominant Kapu community by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who had announced several sops, including constitution of AP Kapu Development Corporation. Naidu had also promised to include Kapus in the BC category.
The pre-poll understanding between the TDP and Janasena leader Pawan Kalyan had helped the party to win over the Kapu voters particularly the youth among Kapus. Pawan continues to maintain cordial relations with Naidu.
In the backdrop of this, YSRCP sources said that Jagan during his meeting with Dasari discussed the present political developments in Andhra Pradesh and sought the cooperation of the senior leaders to strengthen his party in the coastal districts where Kapus are a force to be reckoned with.
Speaking to newsmen after the meeting, Dasari said the meeting with Jagan was only a “courtesy call”. He praised the YSRCP leader for his fight against the AP government on people’s issues. He said he blessed Jagan to grow as a big political leader.
