Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu promised to make Tirupati a beautiful megacity in the State after Amaravati and Vizag. Addressing the gathering during the third phase of Janmabhoomi – Maa Vuru programme here on Thursday the Chief Minister said that the richest religious organisation TTD will be involved in a big way in making Tirupati as a `Sundara Mahanagaram’.

Tirupati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu promised to make Tirupati a beautiful megacity in the State after Amaravati and Vizag. Addressing the gathering during the third phase of Janmabhoomi – Maa Vuru programme here on Thursday the Chief Minister said that the richest religious organisation TTD will be involved in a big way in making Tirupati as a `Sundara Mahanagaram’.
The Chief Minister said that Chandragiri, Renigunta, Yerpedu and Srikalahasthi will also be the part of the ‘Sundara Mahanagaram’. “The TTD is very successful in ensuring efficient pilgrim administration apart from providing all the facilities required for the devotees and maintenance of remarkable sanitation and clean environment on the Seven Hills.
The government keen to ensure that amenities in Tirupati will be as good as that of Tirumala,” he averred. Naidu said that as part of the beautification project, TTD will be entrusted with the task of rejuvenation of all the tanks, development of parks and improving greenery in a big way, so that Tirupati will become a model for all the other pilgrim centres in the country.
“Waters from Somasila-Swarnamuki (SS) canal will be supplied to the tanks in the Tirupati and Srikalahasthi areas. Tirupati will become a city of lakes,” he asserted. “Apart from beautification, efforts are on to improve basic infrastructure including CC roads in all the localities and also individual tap connection for safe drinking water to every house hold under the `Smart City’ project,” the CM said.
Naidu promised to involve all sections for the success of smart city programme. The CM claimed that the ground water levels have improved significantly in Chittoor district and credited the success to the Neeru-Pragathi and Neeru-Chettu programmes.
“We are aiming for further improvement of ground water levels. Plans are in place to make ground water available at 5 mts from the current 8.33 mts. Effective rain harvest programmes are planned to tap 70 tmcft - 90 tmcft water to provide irrigation water to7-9 lakh acres,” he added.
Chief Minister also announced that LPG connection will be provided to every household in the State and reaffirmed that his government is committed to develop Tirupati as a medical, educational, hardware and software hub.
TDP supremo, who was 30 minute behind schedule, addressed the gathering for nearly three hours. He also interacted with the beneficiaries of various schemes including Deepam, SHG loans, ration card, pension etc apart from asking select students to give their opinion on the schemes.
Interestingly, with no exception they all spoke eloquently vouching the fruitfulness of the schemes and heaped praises on Naidu. MP N Sivaprasad, MLA M Suguna, Collector Sidharth Jain, municipal Commissioner V Vinay Chand and others were also present.
