Vijayawada: To empower villagers, Andhra Bank has initiated a programme wherein the bank employees visit the respective villages and sensitise public about developmental schemes. Andhra Bank CEO Suresh N Patel has announced that he adopted a village, Aginaparru in Pamidimukkala mandal of Krishna district.

Addressing newsmen here on Sunday, Suresh N Patel said that the bank had embarked on the programme from December 6. Every Wednesday, employees would go to villages after work to educate the villagers about benefits with government banking, upgradation of machinery, trends in agriculture, horticulture and bank's monetary facilities besides other things.

About 900 villages were visited across the country so far by the employees, he said. The idea behind this programme was to improve the income levels and investment credit of the villagers from all spheres.

Zonal manager G S V Krishna Rao, general manager Durga Prasad, Vijayawada Circle general manager Ajay Gupta and others were present.
