Anantapur: Farmers and people of the State don’t need YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy’s Odarpu Yatra, Minister Paritala Sunitha remarked on Monday. Addressing the Janmabhoomi-Maa Vooru programme at Mushtikovela village in Kothapalli mandal, she hit out at Jagan for his tour of Anantapur district during the last one week.

The Minister accused Jagan of making a farmer of Bandameedapalli in Raptadu mandal say on Sunday that he did not get the benefit of loan waiver. She contended that Rs 30,000 loan waiver was given, declaring that she was ready to provide the account number for verification. Sunitha alleged that the YSRCP had made DWCRA women of the village utter lies, whereas the government had remitted their amounts. These women, she asserted, had secured a fresh credit of Rs 5 lakh.

While accusing Jagan of making farmers and DWCRA women resort to falsehood, the Minister wondered for whose benefit the yatra was being taken up. She claimed that the YSRCP leader was trying to prevent desertion by his party leaders and activists. Sunitha said Jagan would do well to spend the amounts earned during YSR’s regime for farmers’ welfare. “Only this would make the yatra fruitful” she added.

She alleged that Jagan was trying to block the release of water into canals and he had run away from the Assembly without discussing the problems of farmers. The Minister stated that the Chandranna Sankranti Kanukala was distributed to 1.42 lakh people during the third phase of the Janambhoomi. Ration cards for 12.43 lakh people were sanctioned. Sunitha alleged that during the YSR’s government rule, the ‘Rachchabanda’ programme was conducted in a partisan manner, whereas Janmabhoomi was being organised on a non-party basis. The poor, who did not receive ration cards and pensions, would be given the benefit, she assured the gathering.

Among those who accompanied the Minister were Joint Collector Lakshmikantham, TDP leaders L Narayana Chowdary, former ZPTC member Ramamurthy Naidu. Meanwhile, Anantapur Urban MLA Prabhakar Chowdary claimed that Jagan’s tour was intended to remain politically relevant and he had no love for farmers’. He alleged that the Jalayagnam programme spending Rs 90,000 crore did not yield any benefits in the district. The TDP government was providing pensions of Rs 1,000 each and 12.34 lakh ration cards to the people, he said.
