Vijayawada: The environs of Datta Peetham, Patamata here witnessed scores of devotees on Thursday, as Nava Chandi Yagam and Maha Meru Purnabhishekham were conducted under the supervision of Sri Ganapathi Sachidananda Swamiji.

The rituals were conducted by the Swamiji to highlight the significance of the deity Sri Marakata Raja Rajeswari Devi, which was installed a decade ago at Datta Peetham in the city. Sri Ganapathi Sachidananda Swamiji performed Maha Meru Purnabhishekham by offering ‘harati’ to the Kempu Sri Chakram in the sanctum sanctorum.

Swamiji also performed Purnahuti at Yagasala to mark the conclusion of two-day Nava Chandi Yagam and offered ‘Naivedyam’ to Sri Raja Rajeswari Devi. The temple staff along with the Swamiji performed ‘Dolotsavam’ on the occasion.

Later, Sri Sachidananda Swamy distributed prizes to the students who excelled in ‘Bhagadwad Gita’ and ‘Bhajana’ competitions conducted as part of the Sankranti celebrations.

Speaking on the occasion, Swamiji invited Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to visit the place and have the ‘darshan’ of goddess Sri Marakata Raja Rajeswari Devi for the well-being of the State.

He said that Amaravati has great significance in the ancient times and lauded the initiative of Chief Minister for naming Amaravati as new capital for the State and wished him to develop the State on all fronts.
