Agricultural Zones in Master Plan

Vijayawada: Allaying the fears of people in capital region on earmarking their villages as Agricultural zone I, II and III, Minister for Municipal Administration P Narayana assured that urbanisation would be allowed in the zone. Speaking to media persons here on Thursday, the Minister said housing, industrialisation and commercial activities would be allowed in agricultural zones too.

Referring to the agricultural zones, he said that there was difference between agricultural zone and green belt. He clarified that the present rules will continue in capital region villages until the master plan is finalised. He said the government released prospective master plan and there is possibility for modifications.

People of several villages in the capital region launched protests against designation of their villages as agricultural zone in the draft master plan, fearing fall in the land prices. Fearing a possible backlash from the people the State government also extended the last date for submitting objections on the master plan in capital region.

However, the last date for raising objections in seed capital closed by January 25. The Minister promised employment to children of farmers, who offered lands under land pooling within two months. He said that a job mela would be organised soon with private companies and all the 113 youth, who underwent skill development training, would be provided employment opportunities.

Narayana said that efforts are on to complete construction of temporary Secretariat by May. He said that the total number of secretariat employees stands around 2,500 and they are planning to complete the ground floor to accommodate 3,300 employees by May itself.
