It may be mentioned here that Minister for Environment and Forests B Gopalakrishna Reddy laid foundation stone in Peddapanjani mandal for Handri-Neeva canal works last month which is meant for supplying drinking water to Kuppam and Palamaner Assembly constituencies.

Reviewing the progress of Handri-Neeva canal works at the Collectorate here on Saturday, Jain said that the State government has taken up the project to supply drinking water for the people living in eight mandals in Kuppam and Palamaner Assembly segments besides filling 110 tanks. He stated that the government has accorded administrative sanction for Rs 480 crore.

“530 acres of land has been acquired for canal works. It is regretted that the officials concerned are lagging behind to start the works,” he said. Joint Collector Narayan Bharath Gupta, Madanapalle Sub-Collector Kritika Batra, KADA Special Officer Shyam Prasad, HNSS SE Muralidhar and other officials were present.
