Vijayawada: The State government released the master plan for capital Amaravati here on Monday after making necessary changes to minimise the damage caused to houses while laying roads. It may be noted that thousands of villagers of seed capital raised objections over Gramkantam and laying of roads fearing demolition of large number of houses after releasing draft master plan.

Releasing the master plan at CRDA office here, Minister for Municipal Administration and CRDA vice-chairman P Narayana said the objections raised on Gramkantam and damage of houses were taken into consideration and 360 houses are going to be demolished for laying roads as per the master plan against 3,600 in draft master plan.

In majority of cases, the proposed roads from north to south and east to west in the seed capital area were moved slightly to minimise any damage to houses. He said that the roads were re-designed to prevent disturbance to Anantavaram, Nekkallu, Dondapadu, Tullur, Rayapudi, Sakavaram, Involu villages.

The minister said a connecting road would pass through Navuluru from vacant plots to connect the AIIMS, which would come up at Mangalagiri to the State capital. Commenting on the lands not offered under land pooling in Tullur mandal, the Minister said only 11.5 acres of land remained and they left with no alternative except to go for land acquisition.

The Minister said that the government would announce land pooling from February 28 and provide one month time to farmers to raise their objections. Referring to the change in alignment of Krishna river bund in master plan the minister said there is a slight change at seed capital area.

He said the GICT infrastructure consultants of China would submit their designs by April first week. He said the capital architect competition would be conducted on March 15 and the jury would select the best architect.
