We are making all the necessary arrangements to meet the devotees rush. We will distribute 10,000 laddus to the devotees free of cost. We have taken steps to distribute drinking water packets to the devotees.”

Amaravati: Amareswara Swamy temple at Amaravati is gearing up for Maha Sivaratri to be celebrated on March 7. The temple authorities have taken up repairs to the temple at a cost of Rs 10 lakh and painted the temple and making arrangements to set up special queues for the convenience of the devotees visiting the temple.

The temple officials are expecting that at least one lakh devotees visit the temple and making arrangements to perform Laksha Bilwarhana, Eka Dasa Rudhrabhimshekams, one lakh pushapabhishekam to Lord Siva on this occasion. After performing abhishekams, Radhostavam would be performed. After that Siva Kalyanam would be performed. Bhajana Sangas will organize cultural programmes to explain significance of Maha Sivaratri.

Every year, 50,000 to 70,000 devotees will visit the temple. After Amaravati became capital, the officials are expecting that at least one lakh devotees. They have been preparing one lakh laddu Prasadsadms. Temporary toilets would be set up on the banks of River Krishna to change dress. At present, there is no water in the River Krishna. For the convenience of the devotees, the officials have decided to set up shower near the ghat.

MLA Kommalapati Sridhar conducted a review meeting with the officials and directed them to perform Maha Sivaratri festivities in a big way.
