Hyderabad: The government will construct 10,000 quarters for the employees in CRDA for which foundation stone would be laid on April 15. Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development P Narayana said that the State government would take all necessary measures within its preview to ensure that the transition of shifting government employees from Hyderabad to Vijayawada would be a smooth affair.

Addressing a press conference after a meeting the representatives of the employees and government officials here on Friday, the Minister said that the employees had sought construction of staff quarters. Of the proposals made, the main demand of the employees was resolving the local status issue. “The file of granting local status has been pending with the Centre and a team of State government officials would go to Delhi to pursue the same.

However, in case there is any need of amendment to the Constitution on this issue, the government would seek the Centre to provide granting of local status to the children of the employees who would shift from Hyderabad to Vijayawada on a temporary basis for an year,” he added. Another demand of the employees was to take the spouses working in the Telangana government into AP State services. Besides, in case of those working in the Central government establishments, then, the State should seek the Centre to transfer them to Andhra Pradesh, he added.

A decision would be taken after discussion on the issue of those who were not either employed in the Centre or Telangana on a later date. But, “shifting of employees to Vijayawada by June 15 is certain,” he pointed out. “The employees also asked to implement five days work schedule, transport facilities, temporary hostel facilities for women employees, providing HRA, dislocation of allowance for a period of two to three years and other,” said Narayana.
